Psalm 62:1-2 – Only in God do I find rest; my salvation comes from him. Only God is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold! I won’t be shaken anymore. –
There are moments when we run into troubling times in our lives. It can be in our jobs, classes, finances, families, or any area of our lives. Although we can take this kind of nonstop pressure for a while, eventually, it becomes too much. If we walk in the Spirit, we can avoid many things the devil throws our way and overcome the obstacles presented on our journey through life. As we are in the world there will be trouble from time to time in our lives. Jesus says in John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” We are overcomers!
If you feel depleted and fatigued, is it possible that you need to get some rest in the Lord? Could it be that the Lord is urging you to take a breather from the constant pace you’re maintaining so you can shake off the problems and relax a little bit? Don’t you agree that when you’re under constant pressure, it affects your ability to think right and see things clearly?
If you need a scripture to back you up when you need to get alone with the Lord to pray, worship, or simply allow yourself some time for recreation in His presence, read Genesis 2:2-3. Take some time to rest and don’t feel guilty about it!
We live in a world spinning faster than we can keep up, so we must learn to keep our lives in balance. Even God rested.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I ask for Your wisdom to know how to balance my life and work with times of relaxation and recreation. Teach me how to rest as you instructed. Now I know You want me to take a break from this constant pace. Thank You for giving me understanding. Help me to rest yet keep me from becoming lazy. I ask for Your Holy Spirit to help me make the changes required in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
