“…but as bondservants of God.” – 1 Peter 2:17
A servant is the one who willingly serves while maintaining ownership of their own life. A bondservant has released ownership of himself and has fully given himself over to another for service. A servant can serve one and tomorrow may serve another. A bondservant cannot serve another because he has been purchased by One. God has called all men into bond service. Its service (-servant) that is adjunct of ownership (bond-) that free us from all that may have owned us. Bond service to God is salvation.
We have been bought with blood and become bound to Christ in our spirits. His purchase warrants freedom from all former masters who may have owned us in times past. His purchase secures our place in His kingdom and delivers us from all former kingdoms we’ve served. We need not to worry about our former masters’ attempts to bring us into bondage again. The price of our purchase was expensive, and therefore He shall defend His property on account of the blood. We must know we’ve been bought. We must understand that we’ve been bought. We must stand in the midst of opposition on the basis that we’ve been bought. When our faith is in the truth that we’ve been bought, His grace will work effectively towards our freedom. Stand firm in this truth, rejoice in this truth and do not entangle yourself again in the yoke of bondage.
Prayer: Lord thank you for purchasing me. Thank you for putting your mark on me. I glorify you because fear no longer owns me. I magnify you because depression no longer owns me. In any way I’ve served another I renounce all affiliation and devote myself to You. I am Yours, and You are mine. I thank you for calling me into Your Kingdom.
