1Cor 3:3 & Proverbs 27:4-For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? Wrath is cruel, anger is overwhelming, but who can stand before jealousy?
When I think of subtle non-obvious human emotions and tendencies that kill both spiritually and mentally I think of anger, pride, greed, and lust. However, I listened to a message recently I was surprised as a preacher described envy, jealousy or covetousness as the most deadly sin. Envy is cancerous and malignant in a Christian life. It is a very demonic attribute of the carnal nature. In case you want to know if there are traces of envy and jealousy in your life.
Do you wish you have what another has been given by God?
Are you dissatisfied about your God-given gifts?
Are you reluctant to applaud others for their accomplishments?
Are you always competing to be like another person?
Are you intimidated and insecure with another person’s spiritual power, influence, or affluence?
If you notice you are intensely battling with these feelings please check yourself into an emergency Christian counseling and deliverance room of the Holy Spirit. In Gen. 26, the Philistines were not happy that Isaac found water wherever he dug a well and was prosperous and they envied him. Do not entertain envy like Cain did and killed his brother Abel. As Joseph’s brothers did and threw him into the pit to be destroyed. For your information, jealousy is part of our carnal nature, it is a human tendency and often consumes someone who is not dying daily to his fleshly tendencies (1cor 3:3).
Prayer
Lord, I pray that you help me to rejoice with others and be thankful for your unique gifts that you have also bestowed me with. I chose to die daily to my natural tendency to be envious and jealous as I put on the new man that is transformed through the renewal of my mind in your word. Help me seek help and deliverance from this stronghold so I can enjoy freedom as I serve in your vineyard.
